Two faculty members from the Faculty of Law Enforcement of the Ludovika University of Public Service, Szabolcs Mátyás and Miklós Tihanyi, paid a professional visit to the Academy of the Ministry of Interior in Bulgaria between 10 and 15 May 2026 within the framework of the Law Enforcement, Security and Psychology (LEPSY) CEEPUS Network (HU-1803-03-2526).
The visit served several important objectives. On the one hand, it contributed to the further expansion of the international relations of the Faculty of Law Enforcement, while also promoting the successful CEEPUS academic network in which the faculty actively participates. In addition, the one-week teaching programme provided an opportunity for the visiting lecturers to deliver presentations and engage with local students and academic staff.
The lectures attracted considerable interest among the students of the Bulgarian institution. During his presentation, Szabolcs Mátyás focused on the field of predictive policing, introducing methodological and technological approaches that support the analysis and forecasting of criminal activity. His lecture highlighted contemporary developments in data-driven policing and the growing role of analytical tools in modern law enforcement practices.
Miklós Tihanyi’s presentation addressed several current issues related to religion-based integration, religious education, and the contemporary challenges of the penitentiary system. He also introduced a number of Hungarian good practices aimed at supporting the social reintegration of former inmates following their release. The Bulgarian students participated actively throughout the sessions, and the numerous professional questions and comments reflected their strong interest in the topics discussed.
Following the lectures, the delegation also met with the Vice-Rector of the Academy. During the meeting, the representatives of the Faculty of Law Enforcement provided detailed information about the opportunities offered by the CEEPUS academic network, including mobility schemes, joint educational activities, and future research cooperation.
One of the most significant outcomes of the discussions was the mutual intention expressed by both institutions to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the CEEPUS network. Although the further development of the partnership is still ongoing, several opportunities for future joint scientific publications and academic collaboration between Hungarian and Bulgarian researchers have already emerged.
