4th LILERS Conference at Ludovika

The Faculty of Law Enforcement of the Ludovika University of Public Service hosted the 4th Ludovika International Law Enforcement Research Symposium (LILERS) on October 15-16. The event aimed to provide a platform for presenting current research findings in law enforcement sciences and to strengthen international professional dialogue. Researchers from Croatia, Greece, Lithuania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom, as well as from Hungary’s University of Szeged and the Ludovika University of Public Service, 34 researchers contributed to the scientific program, delivering a total of 28 presentations.

Maj. Gen. László Kovács, Professor, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the University, opened the plenary session. Distinguished international experts delivered keynote lectures, including:

  • Professor Zoran Pavlović from the University of Novi Sad discussed the human rights aspects of special evidentiary actions based on the standards of the European Court of Human Rights.
  • Professor Ray Bull, Emeritus Professor at the University of Leicester, presented new methodological directions in interrogating suspects.
  • Associate Professor Gökhan Yazici from Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University shared law enforcement experiences related to the recent earthquakes in Türkiye.
  • Associate Professor Eglė Štareikė and Professor Vytautas Šlapkauskas from Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), analysed public security challenges in the context of hybrid warfare.

The thematic sessions over the two days covered a wide range of topics, including the application of artificial intelligence in policing, the fight against organised crime and money laundering, law enforcement education and career development, as well as current issues in public security and disaster management. Researchers and law enforcement practitioners from various European countries participated in the event, further enhancing Ludovika’s international scholarly connections.

The two-day symposium contributed to the exchange of scientific knowledge and strengthened international cooperation. The organisers expressed their gratitude to all presenters and participants, emphasising that the LILERS series has become one of the most significant international forums for law enforcement research. The Ludovika University of Public Service remains committed to advancing law enforcement science and promoting international academic dialogue.
