On September 9, 2024, the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies welcomed a distinguished guest: Prof. Dr. Jan Dirk Roggenkamp, a renowned professor at the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
The professor is a specialist in law enforcement and data protection law, in which he has gained a wealth of international experience. The highlight of the visit was a meaningful lecture and workshop on "AI and Data Protection". Professor Roggenkamp, in a workshop for our Cybersecurity Department, explored the key challenges related to the regulation and use of AI, with a particular focus on governance and law enforcement aspects.
During the presentation, he detailed how AI technologies are reshaping the legal and regulatory environment and the implications of these innovations for cybersecurity and privacy. The workshop gave the department's staff the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and ask the professor directly about the legal and ethical aspects of AI.
The event confirmed our department's commitment to researching and teaching the latest issues in AI and cybersecurity. After the workshop, a more informal discussion on future AI research opportunities took place.
