LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

The new ambassador of Republic of Korea visited Ludovika University of Public Service

On 24 July, Dr Kyudok Hong, succeeding His Excellency Mr Chul-min Park, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Hungary in his position, visited the Ludovika University of Public Service. Dr Hong took the courtesy visit at Boglárka Koller to continue the exceptionally good relationship the former Ambassador and Vice-rector Koller maintained.

During the informal meeting, the schematics of possible future collaboration between our university and South-Korean universities - with which the institutions’ portfolios coincide - were drawn. Due to the historical similarities between the nations, the diplomatic relationship between Hungary and the Republic of Korea is tight and strong. Nowadays, cooperation lies not only in politics but also in economics, education and innovation. H.E. Kyudok Hong wants to further elevate the relationship between the nations by helping institutions with similar academic interests find each other and possibly establish fruitful and long-lasting cooperation in their respective areas.

All along the discussion, it turned out quickly that two academics encountered. As an expert on defence policy, European Studies and cybersecurity (Mr Ambassador formerly served as a deputy minister in the Ministry of Defence), he quickly found common ground with Boglárka Koller, whose primary interest lies in European Studies. Besides teaching, she is currently a Jean-Monnet Chair. His Excellency was also briefed about the cybersecurity MA programme, which is about to be launched soon.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives exchanged small gifts, and Mr Ambassador kindly invited the Vice-rector to South Korea. His Excellency confirmed his excitement to work with us and enhance the cooperation between Korean universities and LUPS.
