The Faculty of Water Sciences welcomed a Latvian guest researcher

Maksims Feofilovs, a researcher from the Riga University of Technology, paid a professional visit to the Faculty of Water Sciences (FWS) of the University of Public Service (UPS). The expert was on the Baja campus between 26 and 27 October as part of the Ludovika Fellowship Programme.

The guest was welcomed by Tibor Bíró, Dean of the Faculty. The researcher informed the Dean about the research activities at the Riga University of Technology and the links between the two universities, in which environmental research plays a key role.

Later, the visiting researcher had a technical discussion with Associate Professor Zsolt Hetesi. On this occasion they agreed to jointly model the Latvian and Hungarian electricity systems in future research.

Afterwards, Maksims Feofilovs gave a lecture on natural disaster risk and the description of environmental processes to international students of the Faculty. The researcher also visited the Water Technology Training Base, where Edit Vadkerti, Head of the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage, presented the training unit and gave information about future developments, which will allow the creation of modern laboratory conditions.

The researcher's programme in Baja ended with two practical lessons on the complexities of disasters and a presentation of a disaster modelling software for international students of the faculty.
