On 7th of June 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish the cooperation between Marwadi University (MU) of India and the University of Public Service (UPS). The signing ceremony of the Memorandum took place at the University of Public Service. In the name of UPS, Gergely Deli, Rector of the University signed the Memorandum, meanwhile Prof Dave Rhishikesh, Dean of Faculty of law of Marwadi University, represented MU. Dr Rhishikesh Dave, the Dean of Faculty of Law, Marwadi University, is one of the founding members of the department. He has completed his LL.M. from Saurashtra University with specialization in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Laws, and also did his PhD from the same university on the subject of International Criminal Law, earning 2nd rank in the University overall. He was awarded by The Hague Academy of International Law for a Doctoral Scholarship in 2008. He served as a Judge for the “International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition” Organized by Hong Kong Red Cross along with University of Hong Kong in the year 2009. His areas of interest are Human Rights, International Humanitarian Laws, Conflict of Laws, Criminal Law and Law of Evidence. With more than a decade of academic experience in various prestigious Universities such as Gujarat National Law University as an Assistant Professor and Registrar, and as Dean at NMIMS University School of Law and School of Law at Galgotias University, he is also an expert scholar of law.
The foregrounds of the Memorandum were laid down in the month of May, when vice-rector for International Affairs, Boglárka Koller visited Marwadi University in India. After the meaningful negotiations, both parties managed to underline the importance of future cooperation of the two institutes.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to encourage academic cooperation through academic activities such as fostering the exchange of students, academic publications and scholarly information between the two Universities, meanwhile also aiming to offer various Degree programs to students of MU and UPS to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD across all available disciplines. The Memorandum will take effect from the date of the last signature and will remain in force for five years. This Memorandum is incorporated into and will provide the foundation and framework for both Universities, for projects developed by academic and administrative units of the aforementioned Universities. The cooperation emphasizes the importance of public governance, international studies and water diplomacy, the latter being the fundamental aspect of this Memorandum, as both sides identified several key elements of interest in the areas of water diplomacy and water management.
Besides the signature of the Memorandum, Dean Dave Rhishikesh had the opportunity to visit the exquisite Campus of UPS, and also the sights of Budapest, making excursions to the Parliament, Castle of Buda and the Castle Garden Bazaar.
