LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Turkish-Hungarian Academic Collaboration

At the invitation of the Faculty of Military Science  and Officer Training, Bora Yılmaz, an Erasmus+ PhD candidate from the Turkish National Defence University, delivered a highly engaging lecture on 11 May 2026. The event was well-attended by senior officers of the Faculty as well as the military leaders of tomorrow, the cadets.

The speaker provided a detailed overview of the history and mission of the Atatürk Strategic Studies and Graduate Education Institute, highlighting its 2022 expansion and its pivotal role in providing academic support to the Turkish Armed Forces. Yılmaz emphasised that the institution’s vision is built upon civil-military synergy and the training of global-scale experts, aiming to produce strategic knowledge for international security.

Following the theme of "A shared history, a shared strategic future," participants at the workshop explored potential pillars for future collaboration between the two universities. These include joint military history research, specifically in the field of modern-era Hungarian-Ottoman military relations, guest lecturing programmes, and the expansion of Erasmus+ mobility quotas between Istanbul and Budapest. There was particular interest in the planned joint wargaming tournaments, where mixed Turkish and Hungarian cadet teams will test their tactical skills through digital and tabletop simulations, fostering camaraderie between the two nations.
