LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Fulbright Program Opportunities Presented at Ludovika University of Public Service

On 5 March 2026, the International Office of the Ludovika University of Public Service and the Fulbright Hungary jointly organized an informative lecture for students and lecturers of the Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS). During the event, participants received comprehensive information about the Fulbright Program, the application process, and the opportunities offered by the program.

The lecture was opened by Dr Pier Paolo Pigozzi, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Ludovika University of Public Service, and moderated by Panna Ványi, Head of the International Office of LUPS.

A general informative presentation was delivered by Dr Károly Jókay, Executive Director of the Hungarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange (Fulbright Foundation), and Anna Kaszásné Becsei, program manager. Orsolya Lányi, a neuroscience PhD candidate at Semmelweis University, and Dr György Túry, Head of Department of the Science Strategy Office at Ludovika University of Public Service and a Fulbright alumnus, also shared their personal experiences with the audience.

The presentation highlighted that Fulbright Program scholarships are open to Hungarian citizens who hold a university degree, possess an adequate level of English language proficiency, and wish to teach, conduct research, or pursue studies in the United States. Applications are welcome from all academic fields as well as the arts.

During his presentation, Dr Károly Jókay explained the basic eligibility criteria and administrative requirements of the program, and outlined the different types of scholarships, their duration, and available funding opportunities. He emphasized that applicants may participate either in full academic programs or in shorter, non-degree courses.

He also introduced the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, which is designed for professionals in public administration and offers a one-year postgraduate-level program that combines academic study with professional training.

Orsolya Lányi provided insights into the lessons she learned during the application and selection process for postgraduate programs, and shared her first-hand experiences from her stay at Yale University between 2024 and 2025. Dr György Túry, one of the long-time participants of the program, also shared valuable experiences with the attendees.

This is the eleventh year that members of Ludovika University of Public Service have had the opportunity to apply, as the institution has been a partner of the program since 2016.
