Student services - recreation
NKE encourages all students to lead an active and healthy lifestyle by providing extensive sports and recreation facilities and programs. The centerpiece is the Ludovika Campus’s sports infrastructure, including the state-of-the-art Ludovika Arena (gymnasium and sports hall), outdoor sports fields, and fitness rooms. Through the Ludovika-UPS Sports Office and the Ludovika University Sports Association, students can join a variety of sports clubs and teams ranging from ball sports to martial arts. Regular training sessions are organized, and students of all skill levels are welcome to participate, whether competitively or just for fun and exercise.
A highlight of NKE’s recreational life is the annual Ludovika Liga, the university’s official sports championship league. This intramural competition runs each semester and features teams from different faculties competing in sports like football, basketball, volleyball, and more. The league matches are held on campus sports grounds (for example, on the artificial turf pitches in spring) and foster friendly rivalry and camaraderie among students. The Sports Association and EHÖK’s sports committee closely cooperate to coordinate these events and also represent NKE in inter-university sports networks (such as the Hungarian University Sports Federation). The university even has a mascot that appears at major student events and sports games, bolstering school spirit and unity.
Students can take advantage of the Ludovika Sports Card program to access campus recreational facilities. By obtaining a sports card (available for a modest monthly fee charged via Neptun), active students gain entry to the gym and fitness center, and can join free sessions like aerobics, swimming, or use the gym equipment during designated hours. The Sports Card system ensures organized scheduling (with timetables for training sessions) and is managed by the Sports Office.

Beyond organized sports, the campus offers plenty of informal recreational opportunities. The expansive green spaces of the Ludovika Campus and Orczy Park are ideal for outdoor activities, jogging, or relaxing between classes. EHÖK and student clubs also host wellness programs, such as yoga classes and hiking trips. Thanks to these resources, students at NKE can balance academic work with physical activity and leisure, contributing to their overall well-being. The emphasis on recreation and sport helps build teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging within the university community.
