Student services - culture
Cultural life is an integral part of the student experience at NKE, and the university - in collaboration with the Student Union - provides numerous opportunities for students to engage with arts and traditions. In 2019, a series of student cultural circles were established under the auspices of EHÖK to foster community and creativity on campus. These initiatives have flourished with enthusiastic student participation and strong support, reflecting NKE’s commitment to nurturing cultural activities alongside academic training. Key components of the university’s cultural offerings include:
-
Ludovika Néptáncegyüttes (Folk Dance Ensemble): Founded in 2015, this ensemble allows students to explore the rich folk dance heritage of the Carpathian Basin. With professional instructors leading practice sessions twice a week, members learn traditional Hungarian dances and perform them at university events. The group emphasizes teamwork and cultural preservation, and welcomes novices - enthusiasm is the only requirement.
-
Ludovika Show Choir: The university choir is a community for students who love singing and music. Its mission is not only musical development but also building friendships through group singing. The choir’s repertoire spans classical choral works (contributing to ceremonies and official events) and modern pop arrangements performed at concerts. Student members can join at any time, and no formal musical background is required – just a passion for singing.
-
Ludovika University Theater (Egyetemi Színpad): The student theater troupe provides a creative outlet for those interested in drama. Led by a professional actor (Imre Sipos) as director, the university stage focuses on community creation, self-expression, and pushing creative boundaries. There are no auditions or prior acting experience needed to join; the emphasis is on participation and personal growth. Through rehearsals and performances, students deepen their self-knowledge and confidence while continuing a proud tradition of Hungarian university theater.
These cultural groups practice regularly on campus and often perform at university functions or public events. The university provides resources and space for these activities, underscoring that student life at NKE extends beyond the classroom. An EHÖK cultural officer coordinates cultural programs and is available to assist students with cultural initiatives. Whether through dance, music, or theater, students at NKE can enrich their university years by celebrating Hungary’s cultural heritage and sharing creative experiences with their peers.
