Informative Presentation on the Activities of the UNESCO Chair in Water Conflict Management

Yesterday, the latest session of the monthly Student’s Science Club, organized by the Department of Water and Environmental Policy, took place. The event featured a presentation introducing the UNESCO Chair on Water Conflict Management, opened by one of the field’s most renowned experts, Professor András Szöllősi-Nagy. The globally acclaimed professor began by discussing the connection between UNESCO and water management, emphasizing the organization’s pivotal role in promoting sustainable water use and preventing conflicts worldwide.

Following this introduction, the Chair’s coordinator, Dr. Dejan Komatina, presented the work plan for the upcoming year. He underlined the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in addressing water conflicts and outlined the research areas where students could actively participate.

Dr. Komatina also highlighted the critical role of young researchers and encouraged them to contribute to the Chair’s objectives with their own projects. Potential contributions include developing community-based water management models and exploring opportunities in water diplomacy.

The event made it clear that the Chair plays a significant role not only in advancing scientific understanding but also in offering practical solutions for sustainable water management. For more details, interested individuals can visit the Chair’s official website.
