LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Visit of the Czech General Staff Course to the University

As part of the ongoing Czech–Hungarian bilateral cooperation, on 12 February 2026 a delegation from the General Staff Course of the University of Defence in Brno paid a professional visit to the Institute for Advanced Leadership Training (FVI) of the Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training at the Ludovika University of Public Service. During their visit, they attended a joint lecture on the future challenges of security policy.

According to Colonel László Benda, Head of the Institute (FVI), the Czech–Hungarian cooperation launched in 2019 plays an important role in strengthening the professional standards of senior military leadership training in the region, as well as in developing Central European defence cooperation.

In this spirit, a 27-member delegation arrived in Hungary this year, enabling students and instructors of the University of Defence in Brno to meet their Hungarian counterparts. The visit also provided an opportunity for participants to engage in direct professional dialogue on the current challenges and development directions of leadership training.

The Czech delegation was welcomed by Colonel László Benda at the Main Building of the Ludovika Campus of the University of Public Service, which houses the Hungarian Institute for Advanced Leadership Training. Following the official welcome, a group photo was taken in front of the Ludovika Main Building, after which the professional programme continued with an English-language lecture delivered by Ferenc Kaiser, security policy expert and associate professor.

The lecture, held for students of the current Czech and Hungarian General Staff Course cohorts, addressed global challenges expected in the coming decades – many of which are already being experienced today – and the possible responses to them. The comprehensive presentation covered globally significant issues such as migration, the demographic reshaping of the world’s population map, the mutual influence of leading world powers, and the expected impacts and consequences of global warming.

The Czech delegation spent half a day at the university, and following a joint lunch, their professional programme continued in Székesfehérvár.
