LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

International Police Training Practice in Belgrade

Between 12–16 May 2025, two students and one instructor from the Faculty of Law Enforcement of Ludovika University of Public Service took part in a 5-day international professional training at the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies. The aim of the training was to develop policing competencies, strengthen international cooperation, and become familiar with realistic, practice-oriented training elements. The rector of the university, Professor Zoran Đurđević, welcomed the students and instructors arriving from six countries (Germany, Sweden, Poland, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Hungary). The rector also presented the concept of the highlighted professional programme, according to which the institution’s final-year students were divided into four teams who solved criminal scenarios while competing against one another.

In addition to the professional blocks, the organisers also prepared a rich leisure programme. The students took part in a joint dinner, quiz programme and sightseeing tour, during which they could discover Belgrade’s historical and cultural landmarks. The accompanying instructors were invited to a farewell dinner, where there was an opportunity to discuss questions related to future cooperation.

The Belgrade training provided an outstanding opportunity for: building and deepening international relations, developing intercultural competencies, learning about realistic modelling of policing practice, observing new methodological elements. The final exercise implemented by the Serbian side was particularly high-quality: the use of realistic databases, CCTV footage and the tactical house created an exceptionally practical and modern training environment. The training represented significant professional value and laid the foundations for long-term further development of Serbian-Hungarian institutional cooperation.
