The Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies (FPGIS) and the Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training (FMSOT) at Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS), in cooperation with the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), jointly organized a conference titled The Role of the EU Cybersecurity Ecosystem in Global Cybersecurity Stability from October 13 to 15 at the John Lukacs Lounge of LUPS.
In his opening speech, Major General László Kovács, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of LUPS and head of the Cybersecurity Research Institute, first highlighted the university’s uniqueness. At the university that trains students choosing to serve the public, cybersecurity research has been underway for more than a decade. Meanwhile, the vice-rector himself has gained hands-on experience in this field within the armed forces. Kovács emphasized that the ongoing war in the neighboring region has further reinforced the trend of military cooperation with the civilian sector to protect cyberspace. This domain has become one of the most critical arenas in conflicts, as evidenced by the protection of critical infrastructures. He concluded by noting that such conferences provide excellent opportunities for networking, including learning about and enriching the research conducted at the Cybersecurity Research Institute.
The ESDC, within the framework of the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy, provides technical and non-technical cybersecurity training and further education across the member states, explained Giuseppe Zuffanti, ESDC cybersecurity training expert, during the opening. These programs are continuously monitored to enhance their effectiveness.
In the continuation of the conference, Anna Molnár, head of the Department of International Security Studies at LUPS FMSOT, provided a detailed overview of the EU cybersecurity ecosystem.
