LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Success in the 4th Stipendium Hungaricum Intercultural Workshop

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, established by the Government of Hungary in 2013, aims to enhance the international visibility, competitiveness, and attractiveness of Hungarian higher education. It welcomes academically outstanding international students and offers them the opportunity to pursue high-quality education in the heart of Europe, while fostering enduring personal and professional ties with Hungary.

In 2025, we celebrate the 12th anniversary of the programme. Currently, nearly 70 scholarship holders are enrolled at our university. In the previous academic year, the institution proudly welcomed a record 31 new first-year students, significantly enriching the university’s international community.

In line with its commitment to intercultural engagement and global dialogue, the Ludovika Welcome Center of the International Office at Ludovika University of Public Service organized the Stipendium Hungaricum Intercultural Workshop for the fourth time. This initiative provides a platform for scholarship holders to introduce their home countries and cultural backgrounds to the university community. The event was held on April 16, 2025, at 14:00 in the John Lukacs Lounge. Two scholarship holders delivered engaging presentations:

Ms. Belen Martinez Vives
Master’s Student in International Public Service Relations
Presentation: Beyond Tacos and Tequila – Understanding Mexico’s Rich Cultural Heritage

Mr. Aso Faruq Qadir
PhD Student at the Doctoral School of Public Administration Sciences
Presentation: Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The Cradle of Early Humans

Ms. Belen Martinez Vives began her presentation by guiding the audience through Mexico’s historical journey—from its ancient pre-Hispanic civilizations such as the Olmecs, Zapotecs, Aztecs, and Maya, with their polytheistic traditions, to modern-day cultural expressions. She highlighted the significance of the Day of the Dead and showcased vibrant visuals of Mexican art and cuisine. Her presentation concluded with the iconic sounds of Mariachi music.

Mr. Aso Faruq Qadir, wearing traditional Kurdish attire, welcomed attendees and offered a captivating exploration of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, known for its ancient heritage and breathtaking landscapes. His talk included personal insights and concluded with an interactive demonstration of traditional Kurdish dance, providing an authentic cultural experience.

As the event concluded, attendees left with a deeper understanding of Mexican and Kurdish cultures and a renewed appreciation for the rich diversity within our international student community. To build on this vision, the International Office remains committed to supporting the academic and cultural development of international students. Through a variety of intercultural programs, the university continues to foster mutual understanding and collaboration between Hungarian and international students, creating a more vibrant and inclusive academic environment.
