LUPS Organises Erasmus+ “EU Secure” Blended Intensive Programme

The Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training at Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS), in cooperation with the International Office, successfully organized its first Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) from April 7th to 11th, 2025. Titled “EU Secure: Aspects of European Security”, the programme brought together 42 international students from five different partner universities for an intensive academic and intercultural experience in Budapest.

The BIP followed a hybrid format, beginning with a week-long online phase (March 31 – April 4) where students engaged with thematic content through MOOCs and preparatory sessions. This virtual component set the stage for the on-site programme hosted at the Ludovika Campus the following week.

The in-person sessions offered a deep dive into some of the most pressing issues facing Europe today. The academic programme featured lectures, interactive workshops, and scenario-based exercises. These interactive methods encouraged students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical contexts, while fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and meaningful international dialogue. The lectures covered topics such as cybersecurity and the risks of AI, terrorism and counter-terrorism strategies, international migration, hybrid threats, climate and water security, fake news and social media, as well as humanitarian aid and international cooperation. Lessons were delivered by both LUPS and esteemed guest lecturers from partner institutions, including the University of Salento, University of Turin, University of Piraeus, University Fernando Pessoa, and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania.

In addition to the academic programme, participants enjoyed a rich cultural and social itinerary. They explored Budapest’s historical and political landmarks with guided visits to Buda Castle and the Hungarian Parliament and experienced the city’s lively atmosphere, including its nightlife. A campus tour also introduced students to the university’s unique location within the green surroundings of Orczy Park.

The week concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony and the presentation of certificates, followed by a farewell dinner at a local Restaurant—marking the end of a dynamic and memorable exchange.

Special thanks are due to Dr. Anna Molnár, who played a central role in organizing the academic elements of the programme. Her dedication and extensive network of international partners made this landmark event possible and helped ensure its outstanding success.
