Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS) is setting up the Law Enforcement, Security and Psychology (LEPSY) CEEPUS NETWORK to prepare future lawyers, law enforcement experts, police officers, firefighters, security specialists and psychologists to address societal challenges through an interdisciplinary approach to education and research. LEPSY brings together universities with study programs and research in various subject areas (e.g. Political Science, International Relations, Law, Law Enforcement, Criminalistics, Security, and Psychology studies). The network's core consists of universities offering advanced education and research in this field of study.
The principal aim of this Network is to examine the background and effects of current social processes. Transnational networking provides the opportunity to explore current research questions and formulate integrated responses through basic and applied research. An interdisciplinary approach to current societal processes (e.g., effects of migration, terrorism, war on mental health) allows for a better understanding of the underlying processes and a more effective law enforcement response and psychological treatment. Exploring the impact of these processes goes beyond national borders, and LEPSY offers an opportunity to strengthen links between countries and to respond effectively to challenges. We can only meet new challenges by deepening international cooperation through learning, education, and joint interdisciplinary research. We also want to involve other partners in achieving our goals in the hope of successful collaborations.
