On October 29-30, an important conference titled "Europe and Energy Security" took place in Warsaw, Poland, gathering researchers and experts from various countries, including representatives from Sweden, Italy, Austria, Hungary, and the host nation, Poland. Liliana Śmiech, Director General for International Affairs, and her Senior Advisor, Gergely Kovács, represented our university.
In her presentation on "Strengthening Regional Cooperation," Ms Śmiech emphasised that achieving energy security is crucial for maintaining internal peace and promoting economic development across Europe. She highlighted the significance of regional initiatives like the "Three Seas Initiative," which connects the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas, as a means to bolster this effort.
The conference facilitated expert discussions that brought together academics and professionals from diverse fields to share their perspectives on pressing global issues. Sessions explored topics such as the potential of nuclear energy in the 21st century, the realities of the green transition, and strategies for addressing environmental challenges without compromising societal peace and security.
Overall, the conference served as a vital platform for fostering collaboration and dialogue among different institutes and nations to enhance energy security in Europe. It underscored the importance of cooperative approaches to tackle the multifaceted challenges facing the continent today.
