The 2024 Ludovika International Law Enforcement Research Symposium concluded

The "Ludovika International Law Enforcement Research Symposium" (LILERS) is an esteemed international conference organized by the Faculty of Law Enforcement of Ludovika University of Public Service and the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies in Serbia. Each year, this event garners increasing attention and recognition within the academic community. This trend is evidenced by the participation of speakers from various countries, marking its evolution from a regional gathering to a truly global event. The Faculty has welcomed speakers from nations such as Slovakia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Israel, and China, both in-person and virtually. Consequently, LILERS has achieved an intercontinental stature. The seamless execution of the symposium and the significant interest in the presentations underscore its success and high caliber, fostering opportunities for future academic advancements.

The LILERS event commenced on October 15 with an inaugural address by Police Major General Dr Gábor Kovács, Dean of the Faculty of Law Enforcement, followed by a series of keynote lectures. Dr Csaba Zágon, Head of the Academic and International Department, served as the moderator. The presentations received particular emphasis, as they were delivered by distinguished experts renowned for their contributions to the scientific community, addressing intricate research topics that necessitate focused attention.

Among the keynote speakers, Sha Jingying discussed the efficacy of artificial intelligence applications in law enforcement within the Chinese context. Subsequently, Police Colonel Dr. Bence Mészáros, provided an analysis of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The following lecture was presented by Yuliia Zahumenna, a lecturer at the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, who explored the operational dynamics of the police during martial law in Ukraine. Finally, Professor Ray Bull delivered a presentation on enhancing the interrogation processes involving suspects, victims, and witnesses.

The plenary session was succeeded by lectures organized into three sessions on the 15th and two on the 16th. Over the course of two days, a variety of compelling topics were presented, contributing to the rich discourse of the symposium.

The conference was enhanced by the presence of Mr. Liu Wenjun, Vice-President of the People’s Public Security University of China, who was accompanied by three presenters from his delegation: Lu Tianliang, Yang Yujuan, and Sha Jingying, as well as two additional members attending as listeners. Furthermore, the event featured insightful presentations from Barack Anthony and Yehuda Peretz of the Israel National Police Academy, Sónia Morgado from the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security in Portugal, Dominika Dinušová from the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava, Nenad Radović from the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies in Serbia and Harald Christian Scheu from the Police Academy of the Czech Republic.
