In the 2024/2025 academic year, 46 students - mostly from Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Germany, Turkey, and China - arriving with Erasmus scholarships, will begin their studies at the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies (FPGIS) of the Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS). The Orientation Day event was organized for their reception on September 3rd in the John Lukacs Lounge of the Ludovika Side Building, where students were introduced to the university’s history, the course and semester structure, and details of the English-language programs.
In his opening speech, Péter Krisztián Zachar, Vice Dean for International Affairs at FPGIS, recalled the traditions and history of the university, highlighting its rich past and the current international opportunities. He emphasized that FPGIS is the largest and most diverse faculty, offering a variety of study areas, including a wide range of MA and BA programs, and underscored the unique opportunity of the PhD program, which is unparalleled in Hungarian higher education, offering numerous research fields. At the end of his speech, the Vice Dean encouraged students to share their feedback and voice any concerns to the faculty if needed.
Edit Kajtár, habilitated associate professor at the Department of Human Resources at FPGIS, also welcomed the participants, noting that the arrival of the students would make the university even more diverse. She emphasized the importance of dialogue and expressed interest in the students’ opinions, especially on topics such as public administration and political decision-making. Their goal is to provide inspiring experiences that encourage self-reflection. In closing, she encouraged students to explore their own potential.
András Téglási, habilitated associate professor at the Department of Constitutional and Comparative Public Law, and Péter Koronváry, associate professor at the Department of Public Organization and Information Technology, also addressed the foreign students, introducing the international programs offered at FPGIS. Ádám Gergő Drahota, international academic advisor at the FPGIS Academic Office, and Zsombor Artner, Erasmus coordinator, provided students with technical information. On behalf of the FPGIS Student Union’s International Committee, Johanna Seres drew attention to upcoming student events and key activities during the semester.
