Discussion on climate change and energy security

Directorate General for International Affairs had the immense pleasure of hosting an esteemed delegation from South Korea. This visit marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to foster international cooperation and academic exchange. The distinguished delegation included:

- Dr Young June PARK, former Vice Minister of Knowledge and Economy, and currently Chairman of the Ahnse Foundation

- Prof Tae Young JUNG from Yonsei University

- Prof Sungjin KANG from Korea University

These representatives come from some of the most prestigious institutions in the Republic of Korea, and their visit signifies the strong ties and mutual respect between our institutions.

During the meeting, Director General for International Affairs Liliana Śmiech engaged in meaningful discussions on critical global issues such as climate change and energy security. Both parties shared insights and explored collaborative strategies to address these pressing challenges. The exchange of ideas highlighted our shared commitment to sustainable development and the importance of academic and scientific cooperation in achieving these goals.

This visit is especially significant as it coincides with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Republic of Korea. Over the past three and a half decades, our countries have developed a strong partnership characterized by mutual respect and cooperation across various sectors. The discussions today underscored the deep-rooted friendship and the potential for further strengthening our ties through educational and research collaborations.

We are excited about the potential partnerships and the exchange of innovative ideas that will undoubtedly benefit our academic communities and contribute to addressing global challenges. Last week’s visit is a testament to our commitment to fostering international relations and academic excellence.
