New Director General for International Affairs at LUPS

From 1 March 2024, Liliana Śmiech will take up the post of Director General for International Affairs at the Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS).

Liliana Śmiech is an expert and researcher with a wide range of experience and achievements, holding a degree in International Business from the Krakow University of Economics, followed by a post as a research assistant at the same institution and a degree in Energy Studies at the Warsaw School of Economics.

As a MIRAI Politics & Security Fellow of the Japanese government, Liliana Śmiech focused on international politics and security issues, and later as President of the Warsaw Institute, she led research and policy initiatives and developed dialogue on key geopolitical issues. She also chairs the Foundation Board of the Warsaw Institute and is a member of the Foundation Board of the Central and Eastern European Council. She is also a member of the Polish Economic Society.

Liliana has gained professional experience in the European Parliament and major multinational corporations. Her main interests lie in energy transition, sustainable development, and geopolitics. She co-authored the report "Energy Poverty – Situation of Households in 2021", shedding light on critical issues affecting communities globally.

As the International Director General of LUPS, she is responsible for enhancing the international global reputation of the university, showcasing Hungary's perspectives and unique strengths, and building bridges between the East and the West for common progress.
