The Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS) delegation participated in the 32nd edition of Poland's largest public event, the Economic Forum (Forum Ekonomiczne), this year.
As part of the 2023 Economic Forum, the Carpathians of Europe Conference hosted LUPS, represented by Ákos Mernyei, the Director of International Relations, Balázs Tárnok, and the Head of the Europe Strategy Research Institute at LUPS's Eötvös József Research Center, and Dénes András Nagy, the Program Coordinator of the College of Visegrád+ coordinated by LUPS's Institute of Strategic Studies. He is also a co-organizer of the event.
The Carpathians of Europe Conference included a roundtable discussion on the Collegium Carpathicum, an inter-university cooperation initiative. LUPS received an invitation to participate. This initiative, established in 2017, aims to promote inter-university cooperation among countries in the Carpathian region through guest lecturers, opportunities for student exchanges, cross-university programs, and joint events. Currently, six universities from seven countries, including Pázmány Péter Catholic University, are involved in the initiative.
Jan Malicki, the Director of the Center for Eastern European Studies at the University of Warsaw and the initiator of Collegium Carpathicum expressed his enthusiasm for LUPS's potential involvement in regional cooperation. To explore possible cooperation frameworks with LUPS, discussions took place between representatives of the institution, Jan Malicki, Włodzimierz Bernacki, the Polish Undersecretary of State for Education and Science, and Andrzej Klarkowski, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Polish Prime Minister's Office.
At the Economic Forum, Balázs Tárnok, the institute director, delivered a presentation titled "Non-Governmental Organizations under Attack: Why Do We Still Want to Act for the Common Good?" during a roundtable discussion. He also participated in a panel discussion titled "The Future of the Carpathians of Europe from the Perspective of Young People."
