On 3 April 2023, Oisik Das, Senior Lecturer and researcher at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, visited Ludovika-University of Public Service. His research subject mainly focuses on Structural Engineering, which he conducts at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering, where he also works as the International Coordinator of the department. Boglárka Koller, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at Ludovika-UPS, received him in her office in conjunction with Ágoston Restás, head of department at the Institute of Disaster Management.
The internationally acknowledged Professor Das is an open-minded and heavy advocate of cooperation. According to himself, he is not concluding “researches but we-searches”: “I don't do research! I try to team up with like-minded, driven people from academia and industry all around the globe to solve common issues plaguing the current human population. Hence, we do "WESEARCH!" Let us join forces in imparting sustainability in structures and materials by employing renewable constituents that enhance performance properties and fire safety.”
The goal of the meeting was no different either. The universities have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which establishes the foundation of joint efforts between the institutions in various fields (academic and professional). Besides that, they are eager to further deepen their cooperation with each other. Hence Professor Das came to UPS to draft the details of the collaboration of the near future, including improving new methodologies, promoting best practices or writing scientific common publications with the UPS staff.
