LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Fulbright Scholarship Presentation at UPS

On March 9, 2023, the International Office of the University of Public Service and the Fulbright EducationUSA Advising Center jointly organized an informative lecture for the students and lecturers of the UPS, during which they received comprehensive information about the Fulbright Program, the application process and the opportunities offered by the program.
Before the event, Dr Károly Jókay, Director of the Hungarian-American Fulbright Commission, was received by Dr Boglárka Koller, Deputy Rector for International Affairs, in her office. During the meeting, they assured each other of their intention to continue their cooperation. The Director confirmed that two more Fulbright scholars will be nominated to the University in the near future.
A general informative presentation was given by Dr Károly Jókay and Kornélia Litkei, Senior Advisor at the Education USA Advisory Center. Veronika Hornyák, a PhD student at UPS, who will travel to the United States in September, and Dr György Túry, Senior Consultant at the Rector's Advisory Office, who has won Fulbright scholarships as both a student and a lecturer, gave the audience the opportunity to hear about real-life experiences.
The presentation made clear that Fulbright scholarships are open to Hungarian citizens who have a university degree and an adequate level of English language skills and who wish to teach, research or study in the United States. One can apply for it in any field of study or the arts. During his presentation, Dr Károly Jókay illustrated the basic criteria of the program (administrative requirements) and demonstrated the types of programs, duration, support and funding opportunities. He stressed the possibility for those interested in participating in full training programmes as well as in shorter, non-degree courses.
Veronika Hornyák, the PhD student, gave the audience an insight into the lessons learned during the application and selection process for postgraduate programmes. Dr György Túry, one of the great veterans of the program, also shared valuable experiences with the participants.
This is the umpteenth time that UPS citizens have the opportunity to apply, as our institution has been a partner of the programme founded in 1946 since 2016.
The deadline for applications for the next semester is 15 May 2023. For detailed information and further opportunities, please visit the university website and the website of the Hungarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange.
