LUDOVIKA UNIVERSITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Professional lecture at the Faculty of Water Sciences in the framework of the Ludovika Scholars Program

Andrea Zsigmond, Adjunct Professor at Sapientia University of Transylvania, was hosted by the Faculty of Water Sciences of the University of Public Service in the framework of the Ludovika Scholars Program.

The aim of the international competition is to give the citizens of the University the opportunity to exchange ideas with teachers, researchers and experts from Central and Eastern Europe, and to familiarise visiting speakers with the teaching and research work at the University.

The lecturer gave two lessons to the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship students on 24 October at the Baja campus. The first lesson was on the chemistry of acidic mineral waters, the second on their chemical analysis. In the afternoon, the expert gave a public lecture in English on the health effects of acidic mineral waters. The audience learned about the links between acidic mineral water consumption and the development of hypertension and kidney stone formation. The presentation highlighted the beneficial effects of mineral water consumption on digestion, as a good source of magnesium and helps to reduce the risk of kidney stone formation. The public lecture ended with an informal discussion, during which the audience was able to ask any questions they had on the subject.

The visiting lecturer will continue her programme in Budapest, where she will join the teaching and professional discussions at the Master of Water Diplomacy.
