The #ErasmusDays is an annual international celebration launched in 2017 by the French Erasmus+ National Agency to promote European values, the benefits of mobility and the achievements of Erasmus+. It showcases the power of community across five continents, in cities and rural areas. Over the past five years, Erasmus+ beneficiaries have turned these three days into an event that showcases their European experience and brings together beneficiary students, teachers, parents, associations, local elected representatives, journalists and more. In 2022, #ErasmusDays will take place on 13, 14 and 15 October in Europe and worldwide.
The International Office of the University of Public Service chose the afternoon of 13 October to host the event. Our international students participating in the Erasmus+ programme and the Erasmus Student Network team were invited. The latter played an essential role in the recruitment and management of the event. After registration, the participants formed groups, and the exciting rEUnion Race began. The chosen name's message is threefold. EU, because the central topic of the challenges was the European Union: the participants had to demonstrate their knowledge of the EU, its foundation, history and member states. Race, because it was a competition with a stake. Union, because it was organised to bring Erasmus students closer together. The Erasmus students had to complete seven stages with different tasks, which awaited the teams in seven different locations on the campus. The challenges included classic flag recognition, matching up member countries and their capitals, EU institutions and headquarters, and a quizlet on the EU. After completing the tasks, the teams counted the points they had gathered, and the winners were ranked. In addition to the experience, participants were awarded various valuable prizes according to their ranking. All participants who registered for the challenges received a gift pack in the spirit of equality. Cooperation, fun challenges and shared experiences eased the tension, resulting in a relaxed and fun atmosphere for the Erasmus students to enjoy dinner.
This fantastic event would not have been carried out without the enormous and enthusiastic help of the Erasmus Student Network. Ms Blanka Korsós, ESN president, deserves special thanks for moderating the event.
