The Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) visited Gergely Deli, Rector of Ludovika - University of Public Service (UPS) on 8 February. Detlef Schröder has been CEPOL's director since 2018, but will be succeeded as director by Maria Montserrat Marín López as of 16 February.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Brigadier General Gábor Kovács, Dean of the Faculty of Law Enforcement , the parties thanked Detlef Shröder for his decisive work in CEPOL and assured each other of the continuation of the close professional cooperation between UPS and the organisation, which has built a key professional relationship in recent years.
Among others, in 2016 and 2017, UPS hosted the CEPOL Annual International Research and Scientific Conference. As a consortium member and organiser of the first module (Research Methodology), UPS participated in the CEPOL Police in Europe EU Masters Programme in 2015-2017 and 2017-2019, and was actively represented in the professional and steering committees of the Masters Programmes.
UPS also successfully applied for the renewal of the framework partnership contract for the period 2021-2024. The framework partner status allows members to organise law enforcement training courses and seminars for law enforcement and justice professionals by winning a tender.
CEPOL is an EU agency whose mission is to build up a network of specialised law enforcement training institutions in the EU Member States and to support them through the provision of training on security priorities, law enforcement cooperation and information exchange. CEPOL also works with EU bodies, international organisations and third countries to jointly address the most serious security threats.
The Faculty of Law Enforcement is the main contact for the cooperation between UPS and CEPOL, therefore Colonel Bence Mészáros, Vice Dean for International Affairs of the faculty has been the CEPOL Research and Science correspondent for Hungary since 2018.
