New Vice-Rector for International Affairs at NUPS

As of 1 November 2017, Dr. habil Györgyi Nyikos, Head of the Faculty of Political Sciences and Public Administration will fulfill the role of Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the National University of Public Service.

Mrs. Nyikos has been working at NUPS since its establishment as associate professor. She has obtained her diploma in the field of law and economics. She is a Legal expert in European law and has a PhD and habilitation degree. Apart from her academic career, she has been serving in the public administration where she had been appointed to various positions on different levels, including local and central government and EU institutions. She has significant international experience; beside her involvement in the tasks of the Hungarian EU Presidency, she has worked in Brussels for 4 years as EU Cohesion Specialist.

During her 17 years in higher education, she also worked at other institutions such as ELTE Institute for Postgraduate Legal Studies, Corvinus University of Budapest and Pázmány Péter Catholic University. In addition to her knowledge on the EU, her field of expertise includes topics related to the use of public funds (budget, governement budget, cohesion policy, public procurement, competition law, project management and funding).

In her programme, she stated that "it is necessary to develop and strengthen international professional and scientific cooperation in the fields of education and research with both international and foreign educational and scientific organizations and institutions.” According to the new Vice-Rector for International Affairs, it is crucial to participate in international research projects thus it is required to seek the R&D opportunities with other international educational institutions, organisations and economic operators more efficiently.

Mrs. Györgyi Nyikos added that she has been very honored to receive this role and she hopes that with her knowledge and professional experience, she will be able to efficiently assist NUPS in accomplishing its duties and in achieving its goals.
