Lajos Lőrincz Department of Administrative Law

The Lajos Lőrincz Department of Administrative Law is responsible for establishing the basic and advanced general and special administrative legal knowledge of students at the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies. The courses offered by lecturers of the Department cover the basics of administrative sciences, knowledge of the function, organisation and personnel of public administration, general and special administrative substantive and procedural law from a comparative aspect.

The Department of Administrative Law got its name from the founder Lajos Lőrincz (1935-2010), who was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and an internationally acknowledged Professor in administrative and legal sciences. The academic community of the Department is committed to pursuing the well-established tradition of Lajos Lőrincz by providing a strong and high-level basic and advanced administrative knowledge for current and future civil servants by adapting to the educational requirements of the 21st century.

The courses taught by the Department at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels provide knowledge on the main issues of the scientific research of public administration, sciences dealing with public administration including the major trends of administrative sciences, the nature of public administration, its role in society, economy and within the state organization of the rule of law. The variety of subjects encompasses the knowledge of the general part of administrative law, including procedural law, while other courses deal with sectoral administrative branches and public policies from an international comparative context.

The lecturers and researchers of the Department are committed to conducting joint and individual research in a variety of research disciplines. This activity supports the continuous development of curricula and the participation of the scholars in international and domestic scientific forums, as well as publications and conferences.

Within the framework of talent management, lecturers support the development of students at all levels of education. The Department involves students in its scientific and professional activity at bachelor and master level as well as in PhD training.
