The Department of China Studies (formerly: Chinese Public Administration, Economy and Society Research Center) was established in 2007 and it has been part of the University of Public Service since its foundation in 2012. The main goal of the Department is to provide current and future public servants of Hungary and other groups and individuals of the Hungarian society working in Hungary-China relations with accurate, up-to-date and practical knowledge of China.

The Department of China Studies is a unique institution in Hungary that undertakes the mission of education and research of China studies, with special focus on the needs of the Hungarian public sector (diplomacy, public administration, law enforcement, military) and the Hungarian economy.

Every academic year 20-25 participants of the Chinese Language Program study in the People’s Republic of China for two semesters within the framework of various Hungarian and Chinese government scholarship programmes. In 2018 the Department’s student won the first prize on the National Chinese Language Competition in Hungary.
