Department of Forensic Sciences

The Department of Forensic Sciences is a relatively new organisational unit, which commenced its operation on 1 July 2019. It includes the methodology specification team of the former Department of Criminal Tactics and Methodology and the full Department of Criminal Technology, therefore the present unit deals with two major educational and research areas. The eight professors working at the Department utilizes skills having gained in years of field work and practical experience, which is also manifested in the structure of our practice-oriented training. The main profile is reflected in the results of our continual research into criminal science, the number of educational material and other publications. 

Head of Department of Forensic Sciences

The leader of the Department of Forensic Sciences is dr. Gergely Gardonyi, police colonel. The Department Leader has been serving as a professional police officer for more than 25 years. He has 20 years of experience in the topic of crime scene investigation. He was responsible for the CSI in Hungary firstly in the capital city, later nationwide as head of the department for 7 years. He has been teaching for 14 years  at the Szechenyi Istvan University (Facultity of Law) currently as a parttime associate professor. In his field he wrote more than 50 papers and books (part of books). His main research topics are into the field of forensic sciences and CSI.
