Department of Customs and Finance Guard

The Department of Customs and Finance Guard was established in 1991 as the organizational unit of the Police College, the legal predecessor of the Faculty of Law Enforcement. The lecturers of the department are specialists with many years of practical experience from the beginning, belonging to the staff of the Customs and Finance Guard, and from 2010 to the successor of the National Tax and Customs Office (NAV). The department trains financial guard officers for NAV, but its lecturers also take part in training in the field of tax administration in the undergraduate course in public administration. The department is also involved in conducting the master’s program; students undergoing two years of training will gain a degree in law enforcement. The effectiveness of the training is proved by the fact that we receive positive feedback about our former students year after year. Recognition is not only coming from the profession: our students also enjoy serious recognition within the walls of the school. Each year, five to six prospective finance officers present the results of their research, and many of them are successful at the National Scientific Student Conference.

The lecturers of the department carry out extensive scientific research. Their research focuses on the activities of revenue authorities. The publications resulting from this work cover, among others, customs and tax law, risk management, law enforcement human resources and communication, the history of revenue authorities, and the current training structure and international cooperation. Study volumes published by the department are also available on this website.
