Department of Criminal Procedure Law

 

The Department of Criminal Law was established as a department of the Institute of Criminal Sciences in 2012, and it has continued its work under the name of the Department of Criminal Procedure Law, and supervises the subjects related to the criminal procedure law since the dissolution of the Institute in 2019. The knowledge of criminal procedure law is educated by the Department in all specializations of the bachelor’s degree program in criminal administration and law enforcement administration. The full-time and correspondence students get to know the most important parts of the field of law through the subjects, and learn the provisions set forth in the Criminal Procedure Act and other related legislation. The goals include that students master the curriculum in such a way that they can apply it at a skill level in their practical work as well. The lecturers of the Department provide an insight into the legal bases of international cooperation as well as the tactics of coercive measures and acts of evidence, as well as the methods of lie detection within the framework of the subjects taught in the Master’s program in Criminalistics. They also take part in the training of “Law Enforcement Organizer” and “Theory and Practice in the fight against Organized Crime” specialized courses. The personnel of the Department are partly civilians; partly belong to the professional staff of the police and hold officer ranks.

 

 

Head of Department of Criminal Procedure Law

The Head of the Department of Criminal Procedure Law is Dr. Zsanett Fantoly, Professor. The Head of the Department has a PhD degree and habilitation, her main research areas are criminal procedure and its efficiency, and the speeding up and simplification of the procedure.
