The possibilities of expanding educational and research cooperation were discussed at the meeting between H.E. Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China and Prof. Dr. András Patyi, Rector of the National University of Public Service on the 22 of January at NUPS. In addition, the Chinese delegation included the Military Attaché and the representatives of the portfolio for education from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China while NUPS was represented by its Vice-Rectors and staff of international relations.
Prof. Dr. András Patyi emphasised that “our University attaches great importance to the enhancement of its international profile, particularly to the Hungarian-Chinese relations under the policy of Eastern Opening”.
The participants of meeting held a successful discussion on the planned cooperation agreement between NUPS and the People’s Republic Security University of China and the People’s Liberation Army National Defence University respectively. Both sides agreed that the educational and research cooperation in the fields of military and law enforcement training is of high importance within the enhancement of the two country’s relations. The signing of the agreements is expected this February and the beginning of student and lecturer exchange programmes with the University’s Chinese partner institutions is scheduled for the first half of 2014.
H.E. Xiao Qian assured the University of his support in this field which was demonstrated by his offer of the participation of two NUPS students in a one year long visit to the People’s Republic of China within the framework of the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme.
