A delegation from the University of North Georgia (UNG) visited the National University of Public Service on the 5-6 September 2016 with the aim of laying down the basis of a future cooperation. During the visit the members of the delegation conducted negotiations with Dr. Norbert Kis, Vice-Rector for Continuing Education and International Affairs, while they also had meetings with the representatives of the Faculty of Military Sciences and Officer Training, the Faculty of Political Sciences and Public Administration and the head of the International Relations Office.

The University situated in the United States of America offers training programmes in various fields, including military sciences, political sciences and international relations providing opportunity to establish a far-reaching cooperation. The institution was represented by Lt.Col. Anthony E. Fritchle, associate director of the Center for Global Engagement and Dr. Bryson Payne, director of the Center for Cyber Operations Education.

Based on the successful meetings, a memorandum of understanding is to be signed in the near future including exchange programmes of cadets, civilian students and faculty as well. Furthermore a mutual exchange of trainees has also arisen as a point of interest. During the negotiations cyber security and cyber defence became a strategic point of future relations. The possibility of UNG’s participation with a cyber simulation scenario at a related course - organised by NUPS in the framework of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) - has also emerged.

The representatives of UNG expressed a considerable interest in a formal cooperation between the two institutions as NUPS made a good impression with its infrastructure and training programmes.
